Identity Theft First Aid Kit

Maintenance and Monitoring

After resolution, monitoring is key to maintaining identity integrity

One important point to keep in mind after all of your personal information is restored, is that you must keep a close eye on all of your reports and accounts to assure that you do not become a victim again.

Monitor Your Information
Once you become a victim of identity theft, there is a very high likelihood that it can happen again even after you have cleared the initial occurrence. The best way to protect yourself is to be aware of your personal information, protect it at all times and be able to catch any suspicious activity before it grows out of control. You should check your credit reports, Check Reporting Agencies, Medical Records, Department of Motor Vehicles, and Social Security history at least semiannually.
